Open your Eyes

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. I started this to be more true to myself and… really take a look at what I’ve been doing with my life. Not for what I remember of it, but for what I have actually been doing. Time and time again over the break I’ve been thinking about what I should write about. Parties, boys, work, success, falls, love. Anything really. But I couldn’t bring myself to actually write. Write what I feel. I think now is the time to do that.

I have no Idea where I am. I’m so lost. I thought I knew my world, I thought I knew my town, my friends and my family but I was so wrong. I’ve been hanging out with Autumn again, Angela moved out and now me and Autumn are good friends like we were before. I thought I knew her but I found out today I didn’t even know her real name. Autumn was her middle name not her first, and everyone knew it but me.

I have a new roommate now, and he seemed so sweet, sincere and real. I thought I could really trust him. Ever since Macque moved back to Buffalo I haven’t had anyone to really talk to. Autumn has her own set of problems so I don’t really bother her with mine. Ethan, my best friend since kindergarten is in a totally different world than I am and while I can tell him some things I don’t feel like I can really talk to him at times you know? Everyone here has there own problems, I’m sure everyone in the world does but I really thought I could talk to John. I really thought I could trust him. Then he lied to me, let me down for New Years, ditched me to go some where else and when he apologized he told me he was sorry but he would probably lie to me again.

Taking a step back from all this I stopped and examined myself… what the hell was I thinking? How could I trust some one who I had barely known for a full week? What have I been doing with myself… who am I. Why do I make the choices I do.

Maybe I really can control my own destiny, maybe the actions I make and the decisions I make as well really do ultimately decide my future but the things I put myself around influence it as well. I haven’t gotten any sleep tonight.

All my life I have always been a writer. Ever since I knew how to hold a pencil in my tiny little fist. I have a gift and I want to share it with the world. I want to write until the day I die but… what will I write? My parents always told me I had a problem distinguishing what is fake and what is real. Fantasy and reality always meant the same things to me but now they are starting to grow further apart and I don’t know which one to chase, which one to be.

I just got a fat promotion at The Torch, I’m the Features Editor now. It’s a paid position and I can give assignments out to reporters. I’ve never been promoted in my life before; I never thought I’d be a boss at anything, at least this soon. But it struck me: what I write for the paper is real. The books I write in my spare time, my passion; that is fake. I can’t do both… can I? Write books and write for a paper. I have one shot, one degree I need to work for. Am I going to work for a life where I can write for a magazine, make a fortune and have tons of fun, or write my novels make a fortune and have tons of fun. I know this sounds crazy, like I’m freaking out over nothing but what am I going to do with my life? What am I going to be… what do I want to be?

The only person I can really trust now is myself. I haven’t been making the wisest decisions since schools out but I’m young, I’m learning. I look back at everything I’ve done and I worry what I will do in the future. The hands on the clock never turn back, they always move forward. I need to move with it.

I’ve lost control. I’ve lost control of myself, my family, my friends… I’ve lost a lot in my life. I haven’t lost myself. I wont.

Racing to the finish - News

Racing to the finish - News

She's Back and never even Left

Thats right my girls out with a hot new CD "Circus". Britney's life has been like a circus, "in the center of the ring". She busted out two hot performances on Good Morning America today, I know I actually woke up to watch it! I'm listening to her CD for the first time right now, and "Mannequin" is blowing my mind.
Britney is my favorite artist, I feel like I can really relate to her. She has no privacy, everyone is honed in on her life and everything she does is magnified to ridiculous extents. This is how I grew up, I was so sheltered to the point where I would do anything to rebel. But now she's here, "new and improved and sayin' 'thank you very much'."
Despite the public eye's chokehold on her she still struggles to live her life happy, and so do I.

But back to my life: Thanksgiving was great! I spent it with my parents, it was really nice getting to see them again. It's been a while since we have sat down and eaten together as a family. I topped off the holiday by celebrating at my Editors house, and the whole crew was there. It was great, despite all the things that have tried to bring me down in my life I still have an amazing group of people who bring me up.
After a crazy weekend (not going into details) I decided... maybe its time to finally grow up. My Uncle told me I'm not a kid anymore, I'm a man. I don't think I'm a kid, but I also don't think I'm a man. I look at my friends, and people I have grown up with and they've all grown so much. I don't understand how it happened, one moment we're playing games together at recess and the next we're getting married and having children. I am still so young, I am ready now to start growing and mature at a pace I really feel comfortable with. I'm taking this one simple step at a time. I've really calmed down my self, to some extents.
Well, thats it for now on the updates in my life. Hopefully, the next chapter will have something in it of greater value, I really need a new rush right in my life right now... especially with finals coming up!

The ten commandments of Mr. Right

Mr. Right
My perfect man... who is he? What is he... why is he so perfect? Here's A few traits about the man I've always thought of as my dream guy...!

1. He is very corrupted - So corrupted he's a bad influence on me
2. He is bad - Goes a long with the first but he lives trouble, raves breaking rules
3. He is very dirty - Duh, in bed especially
4. He's rough - He likes to fight, "brawl', throw down, he's so tough and has a lot of respect from other men because he's so ballsy
5. His bigger and stronger than me - Its not that I can't defend myself, I'm more than capable of doing that. But he really needs to be able to knock people out when they piss me off or disrespect me. I shouldn't even have to ask, it should just happen and I try to talk him out of it but he doesn't listen. And I want him stronger because I want to look up to him, not down.
6. Yes, we fight - I know it sounds crazy but I love to argue with people. I want us to be able to call each-other names like "you little shit" or "fuck face", and laugh about it. I want to love him, even when I hate him.
7. He's charming - Even when I'm infuriated at him all he has to do a flash his white smile and I'm over it, in love more than I was before. And i get more pissed.
8. He's very romantic - Makes me dinner, takes me on dates, buys me things, treats me to things
9. The look - He looks like a bad boy. Hot tattoos and very masculine clothes and attitude. Not a sloppy dresser but a good simple one. I really like it when guys wear black skater clothes, like from the Famous brand, and baggy jeans, clean shoes, sexy cologne, nice hair cut god....
10. Trust - BE honest with me. Don't try to hide things I really hate that. Don't confuse me, I love the truth even when it hurts. And trust me, don't make me stay at home all night while you go to the bars.

So, there's my Mr. Right... I haven't really found a guy like this yet. Honestly I don't think I ever will. But right now I'm not even looking for a relationship. I don't want to date anyone or anything. I just got out of a very rocky relationship over the Summer and since then its left me feeling very empty and used. Now every guy I meet has to suffer because of what he did to me.
Oh well...

Incredible

It is November 5th 2008 and last night Barrack Obama won presidency. He gave a phenomenal speech and McCain gave one as well. For once I didn't see politicians fighting over things I can bare;y begin to understand, I saw two good men taking a stand for the dreams and ideals of our country, for my rights and the rights of every American (except the gays). This is by far historical, and beyond history this is phenomenally incredible. Barracks speech was right below Dr. Kings "I Have a Dream". It was very good but not necessarily as good as that.
Actually, now that I think about it, it was better than Dr. Kings speech. Dr. King talked about a world he dreamed to see, and Obama talked about a world that finally was.
I'm watching ABC's "The View", one of my favorite show's because I so had to see Elisabeth Hasselbeck's reaction to the outcome since she was so right wing the whole race. I thought she was going to be very bitter, the girls would begin to yell again and it would be funny as hell when she was told off but I was stunned with her actual reaction.
She said the morning after the election she sat down with her daughter and watched Barack's acceptance speech. Her daughter said "Mom, is that our president?!"
Elisabeth replied "Yes, that is our president now, Barrack Obama is the president of our country!"
Her daughter then asked, "Well who lost?" And Elisabeth stared at her daughter, Elisabeth had been a strong supporter for McCain. Elisabeth's response blew me away:
"No one lost honey, we all won. This is a triumph for our country, we all won!"
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, you are truly a wonderful, commendable, and honorable American. Despite your differences with others, despite your beliefs and opinions you could still lay all of your cards down on the table, learn from what had been presented to you and accept as well as embrace a victory that is not only mine as a black man; but ours as a country. God bless you, you really are the true meaning of what it means to be an adult and we need more real adults in our world like you.
As much as I may have disagreed with Hasselbeck's points on the view I did agree with the way she presented herself. She gave her opinions and backed them up, the way things should be done. I know what it feels like to be the only rose of red in a field of roses of white. She was the only republican on the show and my senior year in IHS I was the only black person in my class. I was the only gay person in my class. I was the only voice they had to learn those minorities alternative point of views from. I've put up with nigger jokes in that class through Huckleberry Finn, and harassment not so much based on my skin color or sexual orientation as it was for the fact that they just plain and straight up didn't like me but I still gave my opinions and learned from others, even when I didn't agree with them.
Barbara Walters praised the girls on The View, saying this:

"We have argued, we have fought each other but the friendship and respect have still remained." And it has. As the girls on The View laughed and joked with one another, despite their different political views and what ever other differences there may be I feel that America is finally on its way or pretty close to being able to shake hands with one another and say "We are America".
